Home Sweet Home is  Mixed media minis in a 7 Gypsies Photo Tray. I have turned this into a piece of art rather than just to show case photos but you could also add some hocks at the bottom and use it to hang your house keys on as a practical idea.

I worked on each of the rectangles backgrounds using paints and stenciling. They were also different colours. Why I did this was so when I put the Croco Crackling medium over the top each would have an individual look. I am in LOVE with this product. I apply it with a palette knife and then use my heat gun to dry it. I do it this way a not only am I impatient to wait a few hours for it to dry naturally but it also gives bigger cracks in the medium. It is such a great product to use as even tho I used the white is so easy to apply colour to it using lots of different mediums. I will post another picture I did using this medium after this post.

Then comes the next fun bit choosing the papers to use. I will list them at the bottom of this post. No measuring of  the shapes, I just cut them freehand as I like the randomness of this. Before gluing them down I play with a bit of stamping, and inking over the Crackling medium. I often keep the colours here consistent as it helps to pull the individual areas together.

I then glue down the houses and the accessories I have chosen for each of the rectangles. Paper circles for the suns, wing shapes decorated with Distress Glitter (Antique Linen), Philosophy tag – Cherish , cut out details from the papers.

Once everything was glued down I edged the houses with paints and an black pen. The paints are applied with my fingers so i can smudge them and them I use a ink pen that I smudge. I then added some rub-ons from Tim Holtz Remnant Rubs , and added a couple of stamps from my stash.

To tie it all in I finally stamp over everything with texture stamps and again in the same colour.

Must not forget the Fences on the front of the tray. I used Tim Holtz Alterations – On the Fence – Sizzix die and black paper. One thing I realised I forgot to say was right at the beginning I painted the tray black before I began.

Once I finished my extension on this whole tray art was doing a Halloween one….what fun that would be. Plenty in store to work on this idea :-)
